Wow, I can’t believe that I’m introducing myself to you. The shy little girl who couldn’t get through an Easter speech without crying (LOL) is actually a conference speaker, Bible study facilitator, small group leader, international workshop developer and presenter, and corporate executive who is passionate and excited about helping women to discover their purpose in life! What an awesome God we serve. He is able to transform our lives from the inside out, when we accept Him as our Savior, so that we can live the purpose for which He created us.
My journey to discovering my purpose was a result of me being empty and unfulfilled. After graduating from college with a B.S. in Dietetics, I worked in hospitals and for Fortune 500 organizations in the food industry. I’ve always enjoyed eating great food, so the study of Food Science was a natural for me. The part that I really enjoyed was educating patients on how to eat healthy to mitigate their health issues. I always wanted to be a teacher since I was a child, when I used my dolls as my students. But I decided not to pursue that vocation for selfish reasons.
During that season in my life, I knew that my job wasn’t a good fit for me, because it simply drained me of all of my energy for life and living. After about 15 years of living outside of my calling, I decided it was time for a change. I knew that God had more for me. That is when I made the decision to follow the passion that had been placed deep within my spirit and not to ignore it any longer. As a result, I began to pursue my passion with the power and hope that Christ had destined for me with perseverance! I enrolled in graduate school and obtained a Master of Science in Human Resource Management & Training. My primary focus was on training and helping people to develop their skills to perform their jobs with excellence. Currently, I’m a corporate executive in the Talent Development field and I’ve been trained by Precepts Minitries International to lead their Bible Study courses.
As I began to share my story about how I discovered my purpose, I met so many women who didn’t know the reason for their existence. When I would ask them “what do you believe is your purpose in life,” the majority of the time I would receive a response like, “I really don’t know.” Their responses burdened me because I wanted them to experience life to the fullest and be successful, not as man defines success, but according to God’s definition. God has an amazing plan for you and me, and I never would have dreamed of living the life He planned for me.
I took a step of faith to moved out of my comfort zone. I trusted God as He led me in a new direction to help His women to discover Purposeful Living. In Rick Warren’s book, The Purpose Driven Life: What on Earth Am I Here For, he states that we all have a unique SHAPE. Our SHAPE is made up of our spiritual gifts, heart (passion), abilities, personality, and experiences. We have been fearfully and wonderfully made for His purpose. The only way to discover your true purpose in life is to consult the Creator of your life! I invite you to attend one of the workshops on Purposeful Living with Pat Hartman to discover “what you are on earth for.” Step out of your comfort zone, take a leap of faith, follow your heart (passion) and use your experiences and personality to live for an audience of One. If you want to be successful in life, true success is living out the purpose for which you were created. Remember this, as long as you are alive, it’s not too late to begin to live purposefully.
I thank God for my husband Bernie; three adult children, Tamma, Timothy, and Carlin; and seven grandchildren, Jacari, Sydney, Kaylin, Tess, Myles, Myla and Joseph for their love and support and allowing me to live a purposeful life.
“For we are His workmanship, created in Christ Jesus for good works, which God prepared beforehand that we would walk in them.” Ephesians 2:10 NASB
I hope to meet you at one of the workshops!
Blessings to you!
